This was a very easy install for myself and a few other Guitars I have installed it in.
L.R. Baggs ANTHEM-SL Acoustic Guitar Pickup
First thing; tape up the bridge. “without the saddle” after you remove the strings . Then tape around the hole where your strap peg is,and be sure to remove that as well as the bridge pins.
Next “get the tools out” your going to need a few things.
Your going to need
- 1 Drill
- 2 Drill Bits of different sizes “starting small and working your way up”
- 3 Small Zipties.
- 4 A set of Needle nose pliers
- 5 A set of Wire cutters
- 6 A flashlight (smaller is better)
- 7 Tape
- 8 A wrench that fits the nut on the Pickup
- 9 Double sided tape (comes with some )
- 10 A 9 volt batterie (preamp)
Take a Deep Breath
Start with drilling the hole bigger on butt of the guitar
Starting with the smallest drill bit and working your way up to the size that fits the receiver nice and snug.
When you are drilling into the bridge make sure you know whats on the back side of the bridge. Could be a brace and don’t want to drill into that.
You are going to locate the far corner of where the saddle sits and drill a hole with a very small drill bit. Now drill at a 45º angle so that the bridge pickup does not come up and make a 90º. That hard bend may be to much of a kink and not work properly.
This is what it looks like when your complete from the inside
This is where the Tiptoes and Double sided tape comes in to help keep the wires up and out of the way.
Now to stick the Mic on the underside of the bridge on the (bridge plate) like shown in above pic that also shows the pickup hole we drilled in the bridge .
These are the ones L.R.Baggs puts in the Box and are worth every nickel.
The zip ties are to clean the loose wires up.
Now use the double sided velcro and find a nice easy to reach spot to put your 9Volt that will be put in this awesome pouch that you will never notice by looking down into the guitar hole
Right inside the sound hole is a great place to stick your volume control that has a double sided tape to help it stay put.
Now your ready to put it all back together and plug it up.
Any questions let me know and will be happy to help.
L.R. Baggs ANTHEM-SL Acoustic Guitar Pickup
Hi, have just received my Anthem SL Tru-Mic ready for installation. I notice that there are connected two element pickup wires from the strap jack. I suppose only one of them are going to be installed under the saddle. What am I supposed to do with the other one? Cut it off, or keep it as it is?
Any recommendations will be appreciated!
